Holiday Art Sale
Branding // print // social media
The annual School of the Art Institute of Chicago Holiday Art Sale creates an opportunity for students and public to interact, allowing the young artists to sell original work: paintings, jewelry, ceramics, prints, clothing, etc.
With the plethora of artworks at the Holiday Art Sale, finding an object to gift is easy. Wrapping this handmade object, on the other hand, is often not. The challenge of wrapping uniquely shaped forms became an opportunity to craft type that embodied the one-of-a kind, organic nature of the pieces featured in the sale while also addressing the exciting suspense that comes with wrapped gifts.
The letterforms include a measuring cup, eyelash curler, straw, tape dispenser, spoon, watercolor palette, jar, and more-whatever object most resembled the letter. Can you guess which object is which?

With the letters composed together, they were translated onto posters, postcards, and various social media images. Bits of wrapping material were included for more excitement.
